Independent Clinical Methodology Group

Nexus Research

Real-world evidence research, designed to international methodology standards.

An independent methodology group based in Osaka, Japan. We partner with clinicians at tertiary hospitals in China to design, conduct, and report real-world evidence studies to international standards.

Core Services

What We Do

We work as a unified team across the full study lifecycle — from clinical question to publication.

Design

Translating a clinical question into a methodologically defensible study. Causal frameworks, target trial emulation, protocols pre-registered on OSF before analysis begins.

Execute

Epidemiology, biostatistics, data engineering, modeling — an integrated team, not a chain of handoffs. Analysis code maintained openly on GitHub from day one.

Report

Studies reported to international standards (STROBE, RECORD-PE, STARD, TRIPOD+AI). Null and negative findings published.

Collaboration Framework

How We Work

Our collaboration framework is designed against the failure modes of commercial clinical research.

Our Four Commitments
01

Protocols pre-registered on OSF before data analysis begins.

02

Analysis code maintained openly on GitHub.

03

Authorship strictly per the ICMJE four-criteria standard. No gift authorship.

04

Engagement fees tied to methodological milestones, decoupled from publication outcome.

Scientific Rigor

Methodology

Our methodology builds on the international real-world evidence community — causal inference and target trial emulation (Hernán, Robins), transparency and reproducibility frameworks (Shirley Wang, Schneeweiss), and regulatory science (ICH M14, FDA RWE guidance).

Collaborators

Partnership

We partner with attending- to chief-level physicians at tertiary hospitals in China, in specialties where treatment decisions are dense and outcomes are trackable.

We accept research collaborations that meet three conditions:

Clinical Uncertainty

The question reflects a real clinical uncertainty.

Methodological Tractability

The question is methodologically tractable given available data.

Clinical Significance

An answer would influence clinical practice.
